Our History

Windell Limited was established in 1986 to manufacture a range of window, door & curtain walling systems for security properties. These systems were generally from steel and non thermally insulated aluminium.

Windell took a strategic decision in 2005 to develop a range of products for high level blast resistant systems, introduced in response to the significant increased worldwide threat from terrorist attacks. The result of this strategy was a significant growth in sales, in addition, the Company’s growing reputation in the security market is evidenced by some of the extremely high profile buildings and other high security risk targets on which they has worked.

The use of terrorism as a tactic involving attacks on Governmental bodies, security installations and high profile targets has been prevalent throughout the world for a number of decades but was, to some extent, localised to specific areas such as Northern Ireland and the Middle East. The events of 9/11 and the growth in the threat from fundamental groups, making use of vehicle bombs and suicide bombs has significantly increased awareness of the need to protect key security and high profile buildings.

Windell is part of the Henry Group with a consolidated turnover in excess of £100 million.
