A revolutionary new aluminium door system, combining the advantages of high specification dual colour thermally broken aluminium extrusions, with the security requirements of blast and ballistic resistance.
Elevation of door prior to detonation.
Elevation of door after 500kg of explosives. Note - the opening sash retained undamaged after the detonation.
Frames members are mitre cut at 45 degree, corners are reinforced with extruded aluminium crimping cleats and corner braces, and a secure joint is formed by mechanical crimping into the extruded crimping cleat.
Intermedial mullion and transition bars are square cut shaped and fixed securely to the frame by means of stainless steel screws driven into grooves in the sections.
All frame joints are sealed during construction against entry of water. Extruded plastic weather strips and glazing gaskets are provided to resist the ingress of water. These are fitted into the sections prior to fabrication of the frames.
The following testing has been carried out to date
1100mm x 2300mm Sample
7.62 x 39mm Norinco Steel Core Round @ 10metre Range – Result - Pass with No Penetration.
Ballistic Test (April 2005) – As above for doors Pass with no penetration
( US GSA 'C' Similar )
1160 x 2200 Door sets inward and outward opening
100kg @ 18 metre Standoff – Result – Pass – Openable after Test.
There is also a Tilt & Turn Frame & Sash Section available, however this is only suitable in locations were blast only protection is required

Windell are expanding - an additional 9000ft² of factory has been constructed to allow room for the new CNC machinery recently purchased.
